The new coach, as expected, officially appointed Remi Garde. He will replace Claude Puel, whose contract was terminated on Tuesday.
Lately, 45-year-old Garde worked as the head of the "Lyon" youth academy, and during his football career he has represented not only this club, but also "Lyon" and London's "Arsenal."
Puel was dismissed after three seasons during which "Lyon" did not win any trophies, even though before that they had won the French championship seven times in a row since 2002.
Last season, "Lyon" finished in third place in the standings.
