"Barcelona" striker Pedro Rodriguez has signed a new contract with the Catalan club. The footballer's previous contract was valid until June 30, 2015, but the player accepted Barcelona's offer to sign a new contract, which will be valid for an additional year until the summer of 2016. The player's release clause has also been adjusted - it has been increased from 90 million euros to 150 million euros. Having debuted in the main Barcelona team in the winter of 2008, Pedro made a good impression on coach Josep Guardiola. In the summer, the footballer began preparing for the season with the main team, and soon he was officially promoted to it. In the 2009-2010 season, the young striker started playing so confidently that he soon replaced French superstar Thierry Henry in the starting eleven, scoring 23 goals in 53 official matches in various tournaments. Last season, Pedro consistently played in the starting lineup of Barcelona, and his performance did not suffer even when David Villa joined the Catalan team. In the 2010-2011 season, Pedro scored 22 goals. Furthermore, the 23-year-old striker is the only player to have scored at least one goal in six different official tournaments in one season while playing for Barcelona."
