One of the best Lithuanian footballers Marius Stankevičius has signed a three-year contract with the club Roma, announces the influential Italian newspaper "Gazzetta dello Sport".
According to the report, the Lithuanian defender and midfielder, who belongs to the Genoa team "Sampdoria", cost the capital team about 1 million euros.
During the past one and a half years, Stankevičius essentially spent his time in Spain, where he was loaned to the clubs "Sevilla" and "Valencia". However, the latter did not take the opportunity to buy out the contract from the "Sampdoria" team this summer.
The 29-year-old defender did not hide his unwillingness to return to the Genoa team, which dropped to the second division of Italy. He was also being eyed by Lisbon's "Benfica" and "West Bromwich", but in the end, it seems, he accepted the offer from Roma.
In the Spanish championship last season, Stankevičius played 21 matches, only starting in two of them from the bench, and scored 2 goals.
"Lazio" finished fifth in the Italian league and will compete in the Europa League tournament.
