One of the best Lithuanian footballers, Marius Stankevičius, is returning to Italy - on Monday afternoon, the defender officially signed a contract with Roma.

Celebrating his 30th birthday in a few days, the Lithuanian, who previously belonged to Genoa's Sampdoria club, has been acquired by the capital's team for about 1 million euros.

However, in the last year and a half, Stankevičius spent his time not in Italy, but in Spain, where in the first half of 2010 he played for Sevilla, and almost the entire last season - for Valencia. However, the latter club did not exercise the option to buy out the player's contract, so he returned to the Serie A championship.

According to unofficial information, Stankevičius, who has also been courted by England's West Bromwich and Portugal's Benfica, will earn around 800 thousand euros (almost 2.8 million litas) during the season at Lazio.
