"In the quarterfinals of the Copa America tournament, Uruguay unexpectedly defeated Argentina 5-4 after a penalty shootout and will meet Peru in the semifinals. Almost a quarter of the way through the game, Uruguay had to play with one player less against the tournament hosts, but that did not stop them from achieving a historic victory. However, towards the end of regular time, Argentina's goalkeeper Javier Mascherano received a red card. Uruguay took the lead when Diego Perez scored in the 6th minute, but soon after Gonzalo Higuain equalized after a pass from Lionel Messi. In the 39th minute, the same Perez was sent off the field, and in the 87th minute Mascherano received his second yellow card. There were no goals scored in extra time, so the teams had to go to a penalty shootout, where the only one who missed was Carlos Tevez - his attempt was saved by goalkeeper Fernando Muslera. In the other quarterfinal, Peru defeated Colombia 2-0 after extra time. During regular time, Colombian Radamel Falcao failed to convert a penalty kick, and his teammates hit the crossbar twice, but in extra time Peru scored two goals and celebrated a sensational victory. In the other quarterfinals tonight, Brazil will face Paraguay and Chile will play against Venezuela.
