Rooney warns of a strengthened "Liverpool" club © EuroFootball.com

Attacker Wayne Rooney claims that the club will fight for the Premier League title next season.

The 'Reds', who finished sixth in the English championship last season, have already acquired a safe trio this summer - Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam, and Stewart Downing.

"They bought really good players," said Rooney. "I am confident that Liverpool will be stronger than ever before. They think they have a chance to win the title."

Former Everton player continued: "The main competition will come from London's Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Man City. One of these teams, and us, will compete for the title."

The 25-year-old striker also revealed that the new 'Red Devils' signings made him feel like a veteran of the team.

"Man Utd" has added 20-year-old goalkeeper David De Gea, young defender Phil Jones, and former Aston Villa leader Ashley Young during this transfer window.

"This summer has seen a lot of changes, and when you look around the dressing room, it's suddenly a much younger place. The coach called up players who have not yet won the Premier League, so they will have hunger and desire to win trophies."

"Man Utd" with Wayne Rooney in the lineup will face Manchester City on August 7 at Wembley Stadium for the Community Shield trophy.
