Mourinho's influence in Madrid is growing: a Portuguese appointed as "Real" club's sports director © EuroFootball.com

The official website of the Madrid team announced that from now on, the position of the club's sporting director will be taken over by Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese took over the position from Jorge Valdano, who had to leave the 'royal' club back in May due to disagreements with Mourinho.

The former Inter Milan strategist will have more influence in the decision-making process related to the team he coaches.

Such a team management model is popular in England and almost unheard of in Spain, but Real's president Florentino Perez decided to change the club's internal structure and entrust all responsibility to the charismatic coach.
