Mario Balotelli - one of the biggest and by no means the wisest showmen in modern football world.
The 20-year-old Italian, representing the club, was substituted in the friendly match against Los Angeles "Galaxy" after playing for about half an hour. The reason: the forward, finding himself one-on-one against the opponent's goalkeeper, decided to strike with a "technical" heel, but "messed up."
Coach Roberto Mancini immediately sat him on the bench and scolded him. It didn't seem like the angry Balotelli was watching the second half.
"I hope this will be a lesson for him," Mancini said. "If you are serious, you can play for 90 minutes. If not, you will come sit on the bench.
In football, you always need to be professional and serious. That episode lacked that. Mario understands that he needs to behave properly in every match, not just in semi-finals or finals.
Balotelli is young, so I want to help him get rid of these flaws. Substituting a player after playing for 30 minutes is punishment enough."
