Pamplona today released a statement denying rumors of an attempt to acquire the Dutch forward Patrick Kluivert.
Yesterday, the head coach of Newcastle, Graeme Souness, told a British newspaper that the English club rejected Osasuna's offer to buy Patrick Kluivert at the end of January, just before the transfer window closed.
The former Barcelona, Ajax, and Milan star has not found his form since last summer when he left Barcelona and moved to Newcastle. This season, the Dutch national team forward has only scored 4 goals in twelve matches in the English Premier League. Kluivert has had slightly better luck in the UEFA Europa League, where he has scored the same number of goals, but only in three matches.
Pamplona's team was upset by such rumors and today on the official club website, they released the following statement: "Osasuna strongly denies the statements made by Newcastle coach Graeme Souness that Osasuna tried to acquire Patrick Kluivert. This is untrue and could have misled the club's fans."
