Paulo Sergio has been appointed as the new head coach of Hearts, replacing Jim Jefferies who was dismissed on Monday.
Until the summer months, Sergio was coaching Sporting Lisbon but was relieved of his duties. He has also managed Vitoria Guimaraes, Pacos Ferreira, Beira Mar, Santa Clara, and Olhanense.
Hearts made changes after the team went winless in 11 consecutive matches. Most recently, the capital side defeated St Mirren on March 19, starting the season with a draw against Glasgow Rangers and a loss to Dundee in the Scottish Championship, as well as a draw with Paksi in the Europa League.
Jefferies has been offered the position of sporting director at the club.
