Rooney: "Man City" got a good football lesson © EuroFootball.com

Wayne Rooney praised the young footballers and stated that he received a good football lesson.

In Sunday's "Community Shield" match, the English champions defeated the FA Cup winners Manchester City 3-2.

"It shows who the best team is - we dominated the whole game," said the England national team player.

"The young boys decided the outcome of the match - Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling - all played superbly. I think it was a great football lesson."

Although the winning goal was scored in added time, Rooney claimed that the advantage over the opponents was clear.

"They played well for five minutes, during which they scored two goals. But that was pretty much it," the footballer said.

"The final result was deserved because we dominated in passing and created excellent opportunities. We are champions that they will have to try and beat. We hope for the 20th English championship title."
