David De Gea and Manuel Neuer proved this summer that huge sums can be spent not only on outfield players.
"Man Utd" paid around 20 million euros for De Gea, while Munich's "Bayern" Neuer left for 15 million. Despite this, both of their debuts did not go well.
De Gea looked slow at the end of the first half when he failed to dive in time and stop a long-range shot from Edin Dzeko. However, "Man Utd" celebrated a 3-2 victory.
Meanwhile, a failed episode in Neuer's play, when he, ignoring the privilege to play with hands, lost a duel in the air to the opponents' forward, led to "Bayern's" defeat against "Monchengladbach" 0-1.
"Manuel didn't have to come out. It's a hundred percent his mistake," commented German football legend Franz Beckenbauer on the situation.
However, despite these famous footballers' mistakes, perhaps the funniest blunder of the weekend was by Leverkusen's "Bayer" goalkeeper Fabian Giefer.
