Serra Ferrera likely to remain in charge of "Betis" © EuroFootball.com

Sevilla president Manuel Ruiz de Lopera confirmed that team coach Lorenzo Serra Ferreras will lead the team next year.

Former Barcelona coach signed a one-year contract with Sevilla last summer. It was once believed that Serra Ferreras would leave the club after the season, but the recent performance seems to have changed the president's mind.

Currently, Betis is in fifth place in the Spanish La Liga and are serious contenders for a spot guaranteeing them the right to play in the UEFA Champions League next year. Impressed by these results, Manuel Ruiz de Lopera expressed his desire for Serra Ferreras to continue leading Betis.

"Serra is not someone who changes clubs every year," said Ruiz de Lopera. "He fits Betis perfectly and I hope he will continue to lead the team. With him, we have already achieved third and fourth place in the Spanish championship (Ferreras coached Betis from 1993-1997 - ed.), but back then those were not tickets to the Champions League. Now we are in fifth place, tied on points with the team in fourth place and have reached the semifinals of the King's Cup."
