London strategist Andre Villas Boas claims that it depends solely on the club owner Roman Abramovich whether an attempt will be made this summer to acquire London's midfielder Luka Modric.
This summer, the English vice-champions made two offers for the Croatian - worth 24 and 31 million euros, but both were rejected.
"It's not up to me. The money is not mine," said Villas Boas. "Success depends on many factors: the club's decision, whether they agree to sell, at what price, and so on."
Chelsea is also actively monitoring several other players who interest the team. Valencia's full-back Juan Mata, Liverpool's attacking midfielder Raul Meireles, and two representatives from Porto - Joao Moutinho and full-back Alvaro Pereira - are all in the English team's sights.
