Ignoring the growing pressure, Arsene Wenger insists he has no intention of stepping down from his duties as a coach in London.
The capital team lost 0-2 to Liverpool on Saturday and for the first time in 42 years did not score a goal in the first two Premier League matches. Furthermore, fans do not spare criticism for the club officials and the coach because, so far, they have not attempted to strengthen the substantially thinned-out squad with new players.
"There is no chance that I will step down," said Wenger. "There is only one scenario: I will do everything possible for this team to compete successfully."
"I don't feel any more pressure than usual. In my opinion, the result against Liverpool is not fair, but everything was decided by the red card. It's a pity that we lost, but it's only the beginning of the season."
Wenger has been in charge of Arsenal since 1996. Prior to that, he coached the French clubs Nancy and Monaco, as well as the Japanese club Nagoya Grampus.
