Madrid's head coach Wanderley Luxemburgo stated that he was not satisfied with Ronaldo's adventures, which hindered the team's preparation for the weekend match against Bilbao Athletic.
The Brazilian national team star attracted trouble at the club after arriving late for training on Wednesday because he couldn't return from Paris in time. Furthermore, the player developed inflammation in the big toe joint during a Valentine's Day party in Paris, which will most likely prevent him from appearing in the match against Bilbao.
It is believed that even if Ronaldo's injury allows him to play this weekend, Real coach Luxemburgo will punish the forward by letting the Englishman Michael Owen start in his place.
"I am not satisfied with the events of this week, as we need to focus on football," said Luxemburgo, who became Real's coach at the end of December. "This week we talked very little about football."
Commenting on the club's decision to punish Ronaldo, the coach said: "This is the club's matter, not mine. The club did what it had to do because the player did not follow the established rules."
