London strategist Harry Redknapp claims that financial motives prompted Samir Nasri to leave London and move to Manchester.
It is reported that the Manchester team offered the Frenchman a threefold increase in weekly salary, which now amounts to about 200 thousand euros per week.
Although Nasri himself insists that he left to win trophies, Redknapp does not believe that was the main motivation: "He was wanted by Man Utd, and the player himself initially wanted to move to this team. But then unexpectedly Man City appeared and offered a lot of money..."
Indeed, the strategist admitted that Man City is one of the most powerful clubs in Europe: "Players see this team as one that can win the Champions League in a few years. Of course, there is a desire to be part of it. I would say that the team is even stronger than teams like Barcelona."
