Brazilian football legend Zico will lead the Iraqi national team for the next two years.

The 58-year-old specialist's goal is to compete for a spot in the 2014 World Cup finals. In the same group with the Iraqis are China, Singapore, and Jordan, and the first match against the latter team will take place on Friday.

Previously, Zico worked in clubs such as Piraeus' Olympiacos, Moscow's CSKA, Istanbul's Fenerbahce, and also coached Japan's national team.

The Brazilian will replace German Wolfgang Sidka, who led Iraq to the quarterfinals in the Asia Cup tournament.
