London is getting closer to reaching an agreement with Bremen for the acquisition of defender Per Mertesacker. The value of the deal should be around 11 million euros.
The 26-year-old footballer stated last week that he had no intention of leaving anywhere, but the offer from England made the 196 cm tall German change his mind.
Arsenal is actively seeking reinforcements in defense, as they suffered a 2-8 defeat to Man Utd in the Premier League on Sunday. Before the end of the winter transfer window, the club will also strengthen with Brazilian left-back defender Andre Santos.
Last season, Werder's captain Mertesacker scored two goals in 30 matches in the German championship.
