Striker Filippo Inzaghi will not have the opportunity to become the top scorer in European cup tournaments this year, as he was not included in the squad of Italian champions for the group stage of the Champions League.
The Italian, who scored 70 goals in 115 matches, is just two goals behind the Spaniard Raul. He scored five times last season while playing for the "Schalke" club and surpassed Inzaghi, who had been leading until then.
One of the most famous Italian strikers of recent years only recovered from a serious injury in May, causing him to miss half of the previous season.
"I hope Filippo will be ready in January and I can include him in the squad," said "Milan" coach Massimo Allegri. "We talked and he was disappointed, but it is understandable."
