Lithuanian national team coach Raimondas Žutautas, after losing to Scotland, insisted he didn't understand why Tadas Labukas reached for the ball with his hand in the penalty area.
At the end of the first half, during the penalty kick, the forward seemingly tried to reach for the ball rolling next to him and touched it with his hands, leaving the referee no choice but to award a penalty kick. However, Darren Fletcher failed to convert - the shot was saved by goalkeeper Žydrūnas Karčemarskas.
"You need to ask him himself," Žutautas told BBC. "I asked, and Tadas said he didn't understand what happened. Maybe he wanted to be a goalkeeper."
The Lithuanians lost hope of finishing second in Group I, but Žutautas insisted that in the final match against the Czech Republic, there will be no relaxation.
"We are disappointed that we lost. We no longer have hopes of finishing second, so there may be changes in the lineup, but in the match against the Czechs, we will give 100% of ourselves," Žutautas said.
Meanwhile, defender Marius Žaliūkas was not happy with the referee's performance.
"The Scots complained all week about how the referees mistreated them, so they were helped a little in the match," said Hearts defender. "Before scoring a goal, the opponents pushed us, there were other little details as well."
And he added: "I think a draw would have been the fair result."
