Raulis aims to improve the goal scoring record © EuroFootball.com

Madridd team captain Raul Gonzalez could achieve a new European football goal record in Tuesday night's Champions League round of 16 match against Turin.

27-year-old Raul, representing the royal Spanish capital club for ten years, on November 23rd sent the ball into the "Bayer" goal and matched the legendary Alfredo Di Stefano with 49 goals scored in European Champions Cup matches 40 years ago.

So Raul can now become the first player to score 50 times in a European club tournament, and the Spaniard has the opportunity to do so in the long-awaited "Real" duel at home against another Italian giant, the "Juventus" club.

Meanwhile, while "Real" striker attempts to etch his name into European football history, his teammate, 32-year-old defender Zinedine Zidane, will have to play against his former team - the former leader of the French national team represented the Turin team from 1996 to 2001.

"Playing for Juventus, I had several great years, so that club will always be close to my heart, even though I am very happy in Madrid. It was a stage in my career where I matured as a player and as a person. I met wonderful people in Turin, and since then I have many friends there," Zidane said.
