Madrid announces unprecedented size earnings in the sports world, received during the 2010-2011 season.
Various sales, including earnings from ticket sales, television broadcast rights, membership fees, advertising, other marketing, and player sales, allowed the Spanish vice-champions to earn 480.2 million euros. "This is the highest amount among all sports clubs in the world," said the Real statement.
Net profit increased by 31.7% - from 24 to 31.6 million euros. The team led by Florentino Perez also significantly reduced debt - a 30.6% reduction means that Real owes creditors not 244.6, but 169.7 million euros.
It is worth noting that Real and another Spanish football giant, Barcelona, earn about 140 million euros annually from television broadcasts, while smaller clubs in the country, such as Malaga or Levante, earn just 12 million.
Due to this situation, Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido urges the smaller clubs to unite and fight against the monopoly of the powerful clubs, as in other countries, such as in England, redistribution occurs in much fairer shares.
