Madrid club defender Michael Salgado suffered a serious knee injury, which, as it was speculated, may prevent him from helping his team for at least two months.
The 29-year-old footballer got injured in yesterday's UEFA Champions League quarter-final match against , colliding with opponent Pavel Nedved. By the way, the latter also didn't finish the match due to injury.
The defender's injury is a serious loss for W. Luxemburgo's team, where the Spaniard was the main defender. Besides M. Salgado, another defender, Englishman Jonathan Woodgate, who hasn't played this season yet, also suffered a serious injury.
Initial tests on M. Salgado's knee condition showed a severely damaged lateral collateral ligament. There were fears that the meniscus could also be damaged, and more detailed examinations, which clarified how long the player would be out for, were performed today.
However, these predictions did not come true - Salgado only strained his ligaments and should return to the field in about a month.
