Although in the last four years they have spent over 410 million euros to acquire new footballers, assembling a team properly seems to have failed: coach Roberto Mancini complains that he lacks midfielders.
Currently, James Milner and Nigel de Jong are recovering from injuries, and Owen Hargreaves is not in peak physical condition.
"Currently, there is a lack of midfielders, as I have lost two players. I don't have any footballers. I can only change full-backs," Mancini experienced difficult times.
Although he has excellent midfielders like Yaya Toure, Gareth Barry, David Silva, Samir Nasri, and occasionally rising from the bench Adam Johnson, as well as the young Ivory Coast player Abdul Razak, the Italian coach lacks midfielders who defend well.
"I only have two midfielders, as Milner and De Jong are recovering from injuries," he complained.
