They terminated the contract with the injury-plagued defender Arne Friedrich.
The 32-year-old footballer, who represented the German national team 82 times, has been playing in the ranks of "Wolfsburg" since last year, but out of 40 possible matches in the national championship, he only managed to play 15 due to injuries.
"He requested to terminate the contract. It's a shame that it happened, but we wish him luck in the future," said "Wolfsburg" coach Felix Magath.
Friedrich was supposed to play for the team until the summer of 2013.
