The worst start to the season in the club's history cost the coach Michael Oenning his job.
In six games, the Hamburg team only managed to get one point, conceded 17 goals and currently occupies the last place in the standings. The defeat against "Monchengladbach" on the weekend was the fourth in a row.
"After intensive reflections, we decided that we have to take this step," said Hamburg's sporting director Frank Arnesen.
Rodolfo Cardoso will take Oenning's place, who previously coached the youth team. His debut will be in a match against "Stuttgart."
