"Milan" and "Lyon" Approached the Quarterfinals © EuroFootball.com

On Wednesday, in the Champions League round of 16 matches, there was almost the opposite picture compared to the first day of the competition, as the away teams performed better, with all of them scoring at least one goal, and two teams playing away - "Milan" and "Lyon" - secured victories and took a strong step towards the quarterfinals.

However, the most interesting match of the round, in which in many opinions the strongest pair of the round of 16 played, took place in Barcelona, where after 34 minutes "Chelsea" was leading against "Barcelona", when on a counter-attack D.Duff tried to pass the ball to a teammate and in attempting to intercept the pass J.Belletti scored an own goal.

Nevertheless, the Catalonia team did not give up, and after "Chelsea" were reduced to ten men following D.Drogba's red card, the home team completely controlled the game and scored two goals to achieve a well-deserved victory. M.Lopez, who equalized the result, and S.Eto'o, who scored the winning goal, stood out for "Barcelona".

The reigning Italian champion "Milan" achieved an important victory away, defeating "Manchester United" somewhat unexpectedly. The winning goal for the Italians was scored by the Argentine H.Crespo after a mistake by the goalkeeper R.Carroll.

The best French team "Lyon" practically secured a place in the quarterfinals by overwhelming the local team "Werder" in Bremen with a convincing three-goal lead.

In the other matches, the defending Champions League champions "Porto" played a draw at home against Milan's "Inter". The visitors took the lead after a shot by O.Martins, but in the second half, the Portuguese R.Costa leveled the score.
