Having suffered a serious knee injury, the safety Ibrahim Afellay dropped out of the lineup for half a year.
During Thursday's training, the Dutch footballer tore his cruciate ligaments, so doctors will have to perform surgery. Although there are no precise forecasts yet, it is certain that the treatment will last at least half of the season.
The 25-year-old Afellay arrived in Barcelona at the beginning of this year, but so far has played a more episodic role.
Last season, in 16 matches of the Spanish championship, of which he started seven in the starting lineup, he scored one goal.
