Police detained Bayern Munich defender Breno on suspicion of setting fire to his own house.
This week a fire broke out in the Brazilian player's house, causing damage of up to one and a half million euros - roughly the amount a football player earns in a year. Breno, who was at home at the time, managed to avoid serious health issues but had to be treated in hospital for smoke inhalation.
Experts determined that the house was intentionally set on fire. Officials claim that Breno was detained to prevent him from fleeing or interfering with the investigation.
"We are surprised by this situation, but at the moment we do not have any additional information and will not comment on the situation," - said in a statement from Bayern.
This season, the defender has not played any matches yet due to a knee injury.
