Armed police officers had to calm down tensions after the match between the "Fluminense" and "Atletico Paranaense" clubs in Brazil.

Disturbances arose after the controversial penalty kick was awarded by the referee during extra time. "Flamengo" scored it and equalized the score to 1-1.

Dozens of "Atletico" fans gathered around the tunnel leading to the changing rooms and tried to prevent the referee from leaving the field. Police officers aimed their firearms at the hooligans, local media reported that rubber bullets were fired.

The referee was only able to leave with reinforced security measures and an escort.

The incident took place at the "Arena da Baixada" stadium - one of the twelve venues for the 2014 World Cup.
