27th round: "Lyon" victory in 3 minutes © EuroFootball.com

This weekend, the ninth round of the French "Ligue 1" championship took place. One match was postponed due to poor weather conditions.

Arguably the most exciting match of the round took place on Saturday in Lyon, where the local team "Lyon" defeated "Saint-Etienne" with a score of 3-2. The champions of "Ligue 1" secured this victory in just three minutes - in the 45th minute after Sylvano Wiltord's goal, "Lyon" took the lead 1-0, and just 2 minutes later was leading 3-0. Goals in the 46th and 47th minutes were scored by Florent Malouda and Pierre-Alain Frau respectively.

Another intriguing match took place in Nice, where local team "Nice", represented by Lithuanian Edgaras Jankauskas, managed to beat last season's UEFA Champions League finalists "Monaco" 2-1. The Lithuanian did not participate in this match.

"Lille" also lost two points in the battle for the championship title, only managing to draw 1-1 with "Rennes". After these draws, "Lille" is now 9 points behind the leaders "Lyon".

"Marseille" did not take advantage of "Lille's" failure, playing to a 1-1 draw against "Istres" at home and remaining in 4th place on the table. Meanwhile, the capital's "P.S.G" team, with a recently dismissed coach, finally managed to secure a victory by beating "Bastia" 1-0.
