26th round: The first "Inter" season failure © EuroFootball.com

On Sunday, there were eight matches of the 26th round of the Italian championship. After victories by both leaders in the championship, the dualism remains, while "Inter" suffered its first defeat of the season, losing to city neighbor "Milan".

"Inter" had not experienced failure this season in any tournament and had a streak of 40 such matches without a defeat, but it was broken in the Milan derby, where "Milan" celebrated victory in the 74th minute thanks to a goal by Brazilian Kaka. After this loss, "Inter" lagged behind the leaders by fourteen points and only occupies fourth place.

Leading the league together with "Milan", the "Juventus" club convincingly defeated the underdog "Siena" at home. The team captain Alessandro Del Piero scored two goals for the winners, one was scored by Emerson.

In the fight for sixth place, "Palermo" won at home and defeated the "Roma" team with two goals in the second half. The other Rome club, "Lazio", fared better at home, winning with the same result against "Parma" and securing their third consecutive victory.

In dramatic and eventful matches, "Cagliari" and "Atalanta" clashed. The hosts took the lead three times, but the visiting team, who occupy the last place in the league, desperately needed at least a point and managed to secure a productive draw.

Minimal victories were achieved by "Lecce", defeating "Messina", and "Reggina", defeating the "Chievo" team, while there were no goals in the match between "Bologna" and "Livorno".
