Bipolarity in Germany continues © EuroFootball.com

Two meetings of the 23rd round took place on Sunday in the first Bundesliga in Germany. "Schalke" won their 15th victory of the season, cementing their lead in the championship, while a tie was recorded in the battle for fifth place.

In Gelsenkirchen, "Schalke" defeated the mid-table team "Hannover" in the full-house "AufSchalke" arena and once again caught up in points with the leader "Bayern" who played on Saturday. A goal in the 64th minute by M. Hanke secured the victory for "Schalke" in a not very interesting match.

In the other match for fifth place, "Bayer" and "Stuttgart" fought to a tie, each team having the same amount of points and goals. However, this duel did not determine which team was better - although Leverkusen's club led after a precise shot by D. Berbatov with ten minutes left, a penalty kick by the Brazilian Cacau at the end of the match meant that the game ended in a draw.
