The unnamed Premier League club in England conducted DNA testing on their footballers in order to determine their predisposition to injuries, reports the Daily Mirror.
This unheard-of method, which should help teams better regulate loads based on individual player characteristics, was adapted by scientists from the USA.
"There are good genes that positively affect the game. For example, they allow for better aerobic respiration, increase endurance," said Professor Marios Kambouris of Yale University.
However, critics have already mentioned that such tests and poor results could lead to the decline of some players' careers or at least a decrease in their market value.
