Leader of the Spanish championship, the head coach of the Netherlands, Frank Rijkaard, continues the war of words with his Champions League quarter-final opponents from London.
This war of various comments and replies between the two strongest teams in Europe at the moment began a week before last Wednesday's Champions League match, which ended with a 2-1 victory for Barcelona.
Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho poured a lot of oil on the fire, stating that he saw Rijkaard entering the referee's changing room during the match break in Barcelona and added that the red card shown to Chelsea's striker Didier Drogba did not surprise him at all.
The Catalan coach did not owe anything to Mourinho, who in this war of words had said to be a much better coach than the Dutchman, and stated that the opponents of the Spanish championship on Tuesday, currently in sixth place in the tournament table, Espanyol players play a much more beautiful and mature football than Chelsea.
"They (Espanyol - ed.) play a much more visually pleasing football and have a greater desire to win," Rijkaard said. "In this regard, they are superior to the London club."
