On Thursday, the III round matches of the UEFA Europa League were played.
It was a successful evening for our neighbors, the Poles, as both teams - Warsaw Legia and Krakow Wisla - triumphed with minimal results of 1-0.
The recent victory in front of their own fans was particularly sweet, as they defeated the 2009-2010 tournament finalists, London Fulham.
Things went much better for the other three English teams - Tottenham at home defeated Kazan Rubin 1-0 after a great penalty kick by Roman Pavlyuchenko, Stoke also crushed Tel Aviv Maccabi at home, and Birmingham won dramatically against Bruges Club in the last minutes of the match.
Just like in the previous round, the only Lithuanian to appear in the Europa League was Vaslui's goalkeeper Vytautas Černiauskas, but the Romanians were forced to acknowledge Sporting Lisbon's superiority with a 2-0 score.
