Panevėžio secured their fourth consecutive Lithuanian champions title.

In the 31st round match, Valdas Urbanas' pupils narrowly defeated Tauragė's "Tauras" with a score of 1-0 and became unreachable for the closest pursuer Vilnius' "Žalgiris". The only goal in the first half was scored by the recently returned defender Mantas Savėnas with a penalty kick.

Although the capital club could have kept the intrigue at least until next week's match against the Panevėžys, they lost 0-2 to Marijampolė's "Sūduva". The guests were defeated by goals from Nerijus Radžius and Tadas Eliošius.

With two rounds remaining, "Ekranas" confidently leads the table (76 points), ahead of "Žalgiris" (69) and "Sūduva" in third place (61).

It is worth reminding that the last time the Panevėžys team did not finish the national championship season in first place was in 2007, when they were defeated by "FBK Kaunas".
