Javier Hernandez officially signed a new five-year contract with the club on Monday.
The 23-year-old footballer arrived in England in July 2010, and in his debut season surprised experts by scoring 23 goals.
"The last player I remember starting to show great results so quickly was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Javier is definitely similar to him," said Manchester United's coach, Sir Alex Ferguson.
At the time, Hernandez himself said: "Playing for this club is a dream come true. I didn't expect the first years to be so successful - winning the Premier League and playing in the Champions League final was fantastic. I hope to help the team win more trophies."
This season, the Mexican scored three goals in eight matches.
