Sven-Goran Eriksson has been fired from the club competing in the second division in England, as a coach.
The team led by the 63-year-old specialist nurtures ambitions to break into the English Premier League, but only celebrated five victories in the first 13 matches. This did not satisfy the leaders, as around 20 million pounds were spent to acquire new footballers.
Throughout his career, Eriksson has led teams such as Roma, Lisbon's Benfica, Rome's Lazio, and Manchester City. The Swede also spent five years at the helm of the England national team.
"We thank Sven for his work, lasting 13 months," says a statement from Leicester. "In the near future, we will begin the search for a new coach."
Martin O'Neill is considered the main contender to replace the Swede.
