The team captain Nemanja Vidic officially announced that he has ended his career in the Serbian national football team.
He played his last match against Slovenia, when the 30-year-old football player missed a penalty kick, and Serbia did not qualify for next year's European Championship.
"After long consideration and with a heavy heart, I have decided that it is time to step down from the national team," said Vidic. "After ten years spent in the national team, it is time to give way to younger players.
I would like to thank all the coaches and players who played with me. It was an honor to defend the honor of the Serbian national team and I wish them success in future tournaments."
Vidic played 56 matches and scored 2 goals in the national team lineup.
