Klaipėda's "Atlantas" defender Vidas Alunderis is leaving the port city club and is heading to play in Poland - the former Lithuanian national team player will play for Lublin's "Zaglebie" team next season.
The 25-year-old player has been looking for a club in neighboring Poland for some time and participated in a trial for Grodzisk's "Groclin Dyskobolia" in January, but he was not chosen for that team. Then Alunderis returned to "Atlantas" and after training there, went to a trial with "Zaglebie."
The club playing in the highest Polish league, which recently had a training camp in Turkey, was satisfied with Alunderis's abilities and the player signed a two-and-a-half-year contract.
Previously, "Ekranas" forward Vitalijus Kavaliauskas, as well as "Zalgiris" defender Tadas Gražiūnas and "Vilnius" forward Nerijus Astrauskas, participated in trials with the Lublin team, but all three later returned to Lithuania.
Meanwhile, Vilnius "Zalgiris" player Raimondas Vilėniškis is also heading to Poland, representing the second league "Radomiak" team along with Gražvydas Mikulėnas, who recently visited Lithuania.
Last weekend, "Radomiak" played friendly matches against "Zalgiris" in Vilnius and won 2-1, while the reserve teams' match was won by the hosts 6-1. The Polish club was then interested in the defender R. Vilėniškis and the forward G. Mikulėnas, who had been training with the Vilnius team, and soon agreed on the transfer of the players.
The 28-year-old Vilėniškis started in 2004 at Plock's "Wisla" team, but returned to "Zalgiris" in the middle of the season, while the 31-year-old Mikulėnas spent the last season at the Latvian club "Ventspils."
