This Tuesday, three matches of the Coupe de France were played, the results of which shocked not just one football fan - two clubs from the top league withdrew from the tournament.

"Clermont" 1 - 1 (penalty shootout: 4-3) 54' [1 - 0] Bruno Rodriguez 90' [1 - 1] Sylvain Wiltord

The most unexpected result was recorded in Clermont, where the local "Clermont" team, playing in the second division of French football, defeated the multiple "Ligue 1" champions and current league leaders "Lyon" after a penalty shootout of 4-3. The main time of the match ended with a scoreboard showing 1-1.

"Clermont" took the lead after Bruno Rodriguez scored a goal in the 54th minute, but in the last minute of the match, "Lyon" managed to equalize - Sylvain Wiltord did that. However, when it came to penalty shootouts, Wiltord failed to beat the fantastic opponent's goalkeeper Yoann Bouchard.

"Nimes" 4 - 0 19' [1 - 0] Siramana Dembele 35' [2 - 0] Matthias Verschave 66' [3 - 0] Ethisse Enza Yamissi 72' [4 - 0] Matthias Verschave

Even more painful was the quarter-final match for another "Ligue 1" side, Edgaras Jankauskas' "Nice" club, which lost 4-0 away to the third division team "Nimes". "Nimes" took the lead in the 19th minute after Siramana Dembele's goal and managed to double the score before halftime. After the break, "Nice" continued to struggle against the strong "Nimes" players and conceded two more goals.

Lithuanian national team striker Edgaras Jankauskas spent the full 90 minutes on the field in this match, but as has been typical this season, he failed to score. It's worth noting that Jankauskas has only scored 1 goal for "Nice" this season and it was in the Coupe de France match.

"Sedan" 2 - 0 "Quevilly" 53' [1 - 0] Cedric Sabin 72' [2 - 0] Marcus Mokake

The only team that managed to beat opponents from a lower division was "Sedan" playing in Ligue 2. Twice, the owners of the Coupe de France title defeated their opponents after goals from Cedric Sabin and Marcus Mokake, winning 2-0 and advancing to the quarter-finals of the tournament.

The remaining quarter-final matches will be played on Wednesday evening.
