Wayne Rooney will not receive an invitation to the England national team, confirmed coach Fabio Capello.

The 26-year-old footballer is suspended for three matches due to a red card received in the final European Championship qualifier match against Montenegro. This means he will not be able to participate in the final stage of the competition in Poland and Ukraine.

Capello decided that it is necessary to look for alternative options, so Rooney will not play in the friendly matches against Spain and Sweden.

"I talked to Wayne, informed him of my decision, and he understood," Capello said. "I want to give a chance to players who can play in Rooney's position. This will be an opportunity to understand their capabilities, as the match against Spain will be truly important."

Capello confirmed that Daniel Sturridge, who has successfully established himself in the ranks of London's Chelsea, and Danny Welbeck, who has scored several goals for Manchester United, will be in the national team.

Rooney has appealed the disqualification and is awaiting the final decision.
