Coach of the Estonian national team: the loss was not caused by the referee © EuroFootball.com

The coach of the Estonian national team did not blame the referee after losing to Ireland and admitted that hopes of reaching the final stage of the European Championship practically collapsed.

In the first match for the additional ticket, the Estonians lost to the Irish 0-4 in Tallinn, and the referee sent off two home team players from the field.

"The winner of the pair is almost clear," Tarmo Ruutli did not hide.

And he added: "Of course, the decisions of the referee played a significant role, but the first two missed goals were our problem, not his."

Meanwhile, the coach of the Irish team, Giovanni Trapattoni, did not rush to bury the opponents: "We have a cat in the bag, but the bag is not tied yet. There are still 90 minutes to play, so we need to be seriously prepared. Fans in Dublin are waiting for our show, but we must respect our opponents."

And he continued: "At the moment, we almost have a ticket to the European Championship. However, we should not celebrate too early - we need to repeat the same game in the second leg."
