During Saturday's match held in Grozny, the Lithuanian B national team did not match the performance of the Russian B national team - the hosts celebrated victory with a score of 2-0.

The game for the Lithuanian footballers led by Raimondas Žutautas started unsuccessfully - in the 9th minute, defender Olegas Samsonovas sent a shot from about 20 meters into the goal. However, the blame for this goal lies on the shoulders of goalkeeper Saulius Klevinskas, who failed to punch the ball with his fist.

Having the advantage, the Russians controlled the game for a while, but then it leveled out. However, the guests failed to seriously threaten the opponents' goal.

Yet another gross mistake at the end of the half allowed the hosts to undeservedly double their lead - Vytautas Andriuškevičius unsuccessfully tried to head the ball to the goalkeeper, but Andrei Yeshchenko intercepted it in one touch and beat Klevinskas for the second time.

Just after the break, Lithuania had a chance to narrow the gap, but after Linas Pilibaitis' shot from 11 meters hit the opponent's defender, Algis Jankauskas missed the goal on the rebound. As it turned out later, this was the most dangerous Lithuanian attack throughout the match.

Later, the Russians took the initiative and could have sealed the victory. In the 66th minute, Russian Aleksei Ionov was close to the goal, but he shot wide past the post after deceiving two defenders. Shortly after, Klevinskas saved the team by blocking Igor Koronov's attempt with his feet.

The threat to Klevinskas' goal arose several times, but no more goals were scored and the Russians won by a margin of two goals.
