Guus Hiddink, as expected, officially stepped down from his position as the coach of the Turkish national team on Wednesday. The decision was made by mutual agreement.

The 65-year-old specialist's players did not make it to the final stage of the 2012 European Championship. In the play-offs, the Turks lost to Croatia with a total score of 0-3.

Therefore, the leaders of the country's federation decided that the contract that was supposed to be in force for another year should be terminated. Hiddink did not object to this decision, adding that he has no intention to end his career.

Previously, Hiddink, who has coached clubs such as Real Madrid, Valencia, PSV Eindhoven, and Chelsea, is associated with FC Anzhi Makhachkala.
