Louis van Gaal will start working in the board of the Amsterdam club from the beginning of next summer.
The experienced specialist was dismissed from his coaching duties at Bayern Munich last season. However, his contract with the German team is still technically valid, so he will only start working at Ajax after it expires - at the beginning of July next year.
Van Gaal himself has previously coached Ajax and won the Champions League tournament in 1995.
Together with him, Danny Blind was appointed as the new technical director.
