The referee from Germany, Babak Rafati, who attempted suicide, was discharged from the hospital on Monday.

The 41-year-old banker was supposed to officiate a match between "Koln" and "Mainz" on Saturday, but just before the game, he was found in a hotel having cut his veins.

"He said he loves me and wanted to apologize. I am very happy that Babak is feeling well," said Rafati's father Djalalis, adding that his son does not intend to retire from football.

Theo Zwanzigeris, the president of the German Football Association, named pressure experienced by referees as one of the possible reasons for Rafati's behavior.
