After the victory in the Spanish championship match against "Zaragoza," the head coach, at a press conference, expressed his continued trust in David Villa.
The media representatives asked Josep Guardiola why the experienced striker has been starting games more frequently from the bench lately.
"If I say that I trust David Villa, then it is true. Thiago, for example, also does not always start matches in the starting lineup, even though he plays well. The same goes for Andrés Iniesta," said the Catalan.
"I cannot constantly justify and look for explanations as to why certain players start or not start in particular matches from the very first minutes. You know well that not all team players can play at the same time. I know the abilities of my players and I try to make each of them as useful as possible on the field," Guardiola reflected.
According to the coach, David Villa always gives his all on the field, whether he plays from the beginning of the match or after coming on as a substitute.
Villa, who appeared in the second half against "Zaragoza" after the substitution, scored the fourth goal for "Barcelona" with a precise header against the opponent's goalkeeper.
